How far is "it's unacceptable" from "this won't happen again"?
I think it's the sane equivalent of the same thought. I also think he's just trying to let the players know that he doesn't want to see them coasting to the end of September. Although, I'm not sure how we'd know the difference. |

Unacceptable? Ok, I agree. I do not accept the product the Astros have placed before us for the past 2 seasons. Please refund to any and all who are like-minded the following:
1. our sanity
2. our ability to enjoy a baseball season
3. our pride
We will also require gift certificates to eateries sufficient to cover the calories lost while projectile vomiting during the 2011 and 2012 campaigns. We do not accept the argument that those calories were in fact provided by the alcoholic beverages we consumed to avoid conscious deliberation of those seasons, and we will in fact likely need a few extra livers. We'll let you know.

Specifically, to me, Paredes getting thrown out at 2nd when Castro had already reached 3rd, with 1 out, up by one, that's, maybe I wouldn't use the word "unacceptable", but it shows a very poor awareness of game situations. Tony D mentioned that, and he also mentioned Dominguez getting doubled off 2nd. I think he's trying to walk the line between being encouraging and pep-talky and holding these guys accountable for stupid decisions or bad ABs. Tough to do, but I don't think he's close to Cooper-level here. He's still going out of his way to praise guys for the good things (including Paredes for his nailing the runner at home). You've got to let him scold them a little when necessary, too. |

I'm sure he is, but what have you seen in 8 or 9 games that makes you think he's a "clown"? He was a very successful and respected minor league manager for years, a former Seton Hall/minor league catcher, so he must have some idea what he's doing. |
