Dodgers are talking to Astros about a trade that would send Jed Lowrie to the Dodgers, with minor-leaguers Zach Lee and Garrett Gould to HOU.

One source places odds of Lowrie/Lee Astros-Dodgers deal is about 50-50 right now.

Sources are saying that there could be others involved in Lowrie/Lee-Gould discussions between Dodgers and Astros.

Lowrie, of course, would give Dodgers options at third base and shortstop. Having a strong season, and hitting for power -- which LAD needs.

Zach Lee was LA's #1 prospect according to BP, Gould #5.  Both are RHP (starters), with Lee projected as "star level".

He's hitting for power in places other than Dodger Stadium. I assume they're taking that into account.

That would be one bold trade for sure. Interesting.

Rosenthal says the talks are about Carlos Lee, not Lowrie.

Does Lowrie have the arm for third?

Not sure about Lee as a star.  Last I had heard about him was that he was more mid-rotation ceiling.  Basically, it sounds like he hasn't developed the velocity which was once expected.

Doesn't seem like it to me. He fields everything off to the side and then kind of whips the ball to first.

Now seeing reports it's Carlos not Lowrie, and for not much prospect wise

Levine with a short story up about the trade rumor, saying that Gould (who was scheduled to pitch vs. Lancaster tonight) was scratched an hour before game-time with no explanation.

I honestly can't imagine getting Gould for Carlos.

It would be pretty surprising, that's for sure. Then again, the Dodgers just gave $42mm to a middling prospect who no one's seen for a year, so nothing they do should surprise me at this point.

This one will be screwed up in rumors a lot given the 2 Lee's involved.

If he has the arm for SS, he has the arm for 3B.

Agreed.
He's played 83 games/525 innings at 3rd in his MLB career... .961 FLD% (vs. .956 league AVG) and a 2.97 RF/9 (vs 2.68 lg AVG)... for whatever (if anything) those numbers are worth.

I think we can safely say he'd be better than, say, Chris Johnson over there.

Of course. Lowrie is the best infielder on the team. That's why he's the SS.

Lee and Lowrie in the lineup today.  Hopefully, Lee didn't nix a trade...

•Lee met with GM Jeff Luhnow this morning and told reporters (including MLB.com's Brian McTaggart) that the Dodgers have made an offer (Twitter link). He is going to take some time if decide if he wants to accept it. Lee is in the lineup for Houston this afternoon.
