Question: How can a professional sports league survive when even executives think the fix is in?

It's so hard for me to get into the NBA for several reasons and this is one of them.
The structure of the league is so backwards but it's the only the way the league can be successful. While parity may be good for football and baseball (to an extent), it isn't for the NBA. There are a small group of superstars that dictate what happens in the league. At the end of the season everyone wants to see these superstars play each other and that's what the NBA has right now. I do think the league would operate much better if 2-4 teams were contracted.

The NBA has had no claim to legitimacy 20+ years.

1992? Nah. The 94 and 95 championships were legitimate. I mean, you can't take those away from us. You can't. [pluggingears]

Instead of contraction I'd rather see the NBA move to a soccer-style relegation system.

I've always contended that the Rockets would have been nightmares for MJ's Bulls even during the first retirement year. Olajuwon was sheer brilliance around that time. Plus the Rockets went 3-1 against the Bulls in the last two years prior to the MJ's first retirement.

None of MJs rings came when Kobe was playing. Ergo all of his rings are bullshit.

One of the things I like about the NBA; like that I can watch the game online for free.

35 minutes ago I decided to check on the game and saw there was only 7 mins left in the 4th Quarter. There's 2 minutes left now. I really want to root for KD, but this is unbearable.
Baseball isn't the only "slow" game going.

I can't watch basketball at any level and that's one of the reasons.

Same here. And it's worse in the playoffs, because even a thoroughly beaten team will keep fouling...just in case.

Basketball is, in my mind, is not even a legitimate sport anymore than the WWF is. They have tremendous athletes with talent, but the fact that the game can be manipulated and shaped by the decisions of zebras, without being held accountable in the short term, makes it unwatchable. The Rome/Stern confrontation should have been dissolved quickly with Stern laughing off the question instead of getting defensive about it. The more appropriate question would be is the fix in. How would he have answered that question? Laughing or defensive? Watching 7' men run the court and jump and shoot 3's with their talent has been overshadowed to the point that watching 7' 400lb men throw each other around with speed and agility in the ring is the same in my eyes. It is impressive to watch these talents, but the 'game' itself leaves much to be desired and has become increasingly so in the last few years. JMO!

That's another reason for my distaste of basketball, and when I bring that up people always say, "Well, that happens in football and baseball too." There are some murky waters in baseball (strike zone) and football (holding, pass interference) but those are at least generally enforced somewhat consistently. And baseball/football officials are not in nearly as powerful a position to take over a game in the same way basketball officials are.

Also, baseball and football have not had officials publicly admit to betting on games and throwing games.

I meant WWE; that's a goose down correction, bro. Either way, it's my opinion not looking for your commendation.
