It was hard to look at pictures from Astroworld a few weeks ago since I had many fond childhood memories there. In particular, I used to love riding Tidal Wave, and then after the ride finished stand on the bridge to get soaked by the next group on the ride.

It's been completely demolished for years.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap. It does not lend itself to protocol. It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants. Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility. A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I haven't been back to Houston in about 6 years.

It was demolished in 2005, so that may be why.

I had a ton of childhood memories there as well. My cousins from Virginia always came to visit in the summer and the number one child-occupying activity was Astroworld. In August 2005, my VA cousin and I went one last time after getting Sigh...getting nostalgic now. Maybe I'll dust off those Astroworld shotglasses I bought.

Right now it looks like it's a big-ass parking lot. From what I understand, it's been bought by a developer who's waiting for the right time to develop it.

Every time I drive on the south Loop, I think, "Wow, that land would be a killer place for an amusement park."
Honestly, I've never understood how that place would not have worked economically. It was such an institution in the city.

Nothing to do with the profitability of the park. But the sale price of the land was worth more than Six Flags was willing to pass up. The last few years of Astroworld, the place became more and more of a dump, mostly by the design of Six Flags. They cut their security force by half and combined that with an unspoken policy of allowing a season pass to become a day care pass with the idea of making it less of an attraction for the suburbanites as they were working out the sale, primarily so the "outrage" would be muted.

Fish are always eating other fish. If fish could scream, the ocean would be loud as shit. You would not want to submerge your head, nothing but fish going "Ahhh, fuck! I thought I looked like that rock!"

Interesting. I would say 1990-1998 was my heyday in that place. I don't think I went even once after leaving home for college.
