The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap. It does not lend itself to protocol. It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants. Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility. A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I was going to say, that's why most old stadiums get blow'd up after new ones are built. Imagine, we could just have nice, warm memories of the place instead of watching it deteriorate into a rat-filled shithole.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sunkcost.asp#axzz1r6vj9sm9Novelty and history have worn off. Dynamite it and restructure the parking or do something with the land. At this point, it just annoying when having to walk around it.

It would cost an estimated $120 million or more to take it down; tough to justify that kind of money for something that's merely "annoying."

It was poignant seeing those photographs. There are so many memories in that building for me.
The Astrodome was the first building of its kind in the world and the large span of the roof was a matter of furious debate in the structural engineering community. A family friend was one of the main engineers on the project and he told me that the safety margins adopted for that project would be later viewed as excessive. That means that it is going to be very difficult to demolish.
I would love for the Astrodome to be re-purposed into something useful. Obviously, finding was that is has proved very difficult.

The cost of taking it down isn't going to get any less, and at some point it's going to be necessary for public health and safety.

No problem. We can fire a few more teachers to pay for it.

The Astrodome, or NewsCorp?
Maybe we can round up all those unimaginable cocksuckers who thought that listening to, then deleting, the voicemail messages of a 13-year old girl who was, at the time, being raped and murdered and dumped in the middle of nowhere, and let them push the plunger on the 'Dome implosion. From the inside.

It appears that you may be able to buy your very own piece of Dome memorabilia. (H/T Astros County: LINK)

Kinda sounds like it might be too much trouble and not raise enough money to be worth the county's time. That would be too bad -- I'd love to have something from the Dome.
