ESPN reporting on TV he's out effectively immediately.
Don't know the particulars of the scandal, but I hate to see him go out this way.

You should definitely do some reading if you feel that way.

Note the President was also fired, and that's a secondary story if mentioned at all

I am left wondering how many times in the past 50+ years he covered up bad behavior by his friends at Penn State.
My immediate reaction is good riddance.

Sandusky's sudden departure in '99 seems especially suspicious now. Did Paterno already know or suspect something at that point?

This is probably the worst major college football sports scandal ever, and the other shoe hasn't even dropped yet (please xplain why so many would be interested in covering up child rape by a former defensive coordinator unless something else was going on)

Umm...isn't child rape bad enough? Is there worse?

There's no reasonable explanation to not immediately call police, at a minimum. And it wasn't just one person that didn't pick up the phone. Something else was going on

If you heard about someone you knew anally raping 10 year olds, wouldn't it be a debate between murdering them and calling the cops?

What is more appalling is the fact that Sandusky still had an office on campus and was allowed complete access to the football facilities despite being terminated by the University.

Ok, I just read the grand jury report. Deeply, deeply disturbing, and I agree he should be fired. Ignorance really is bliss.

Reading between the lines of tonight's press conference there is probably even worse info than that (at least as relates to Paterno) Byte way, the count of victims is up to 20 - wouldn't be surprised if the real number is 50

I don't even want to think about it: SPORTSbyBROOKS SPORTSbyBROOKS I can confirm there will soon be new, major allegation involving child sex abuse in Sandusky case. Told tonite it could come before Saturday
SPORTSbyBROOKS SPORTSbyBROOKS If what I was told tonight about the details of the new allegation in Sandusky child sex case is true, it will horrify the public.

I don't even want to think about it:
I don't have the capacity to imagine what could be horrific beyond what has already been reported.
