The same can be said of the majority of Chinese restaurants, but I've generally heard from Chinese friends that good Chinese food can be acquired in Houston.

The Chinese food in Houston is awesome. In fact that may be the single best thing about the neckopolis.

I hope he sits down at the table before he breaks the news. That just seems like the neighborly thing to do.

Right. But I hope to Ganesh that he doesn't confuse some Sikh's turban for a hat.

Man. Where do I start? My go-to place lately has been a place on Bellaire called Spicy Sichuan, it's 9888 Bellaire I believe. They have a counter of cold appetizers that is ridiculous, all sorts of weird shit. The ma po tofu is as good as I've ever had anywhere in the world. I've had 20 dishes there and only a couple have disappointed.

Right across the street I like FuFu as well as the place next door to FuFu. The lamb noodle soup at Lucky Pot is insane but I usually wait until winter for that dish.

I go to Indian places off Hillcroft all the time and I'm usually the only non-desi in there. Someone needs to go in and tell those otherwise contented people that the food they are eating sucks. I think Hudson is the ideal fellow for that job.

I'm not the one saying the Indian food in Houston sucks.

Any of them serve dhansak?

The only place I have found that has it is Cuisine India on Nasa Road 1.

Dhansak is (a) actually Persian, and (2) by far my favourite ruby.  It's not served in many Indian restaurants anywhere, let alone Houston, because (a) it's Persian, and (2) the lentils need to be soaked for 24 hours in advance.

I may have to take a trip down to Keemah.

It is actually closer to I-45 than Kemah.  I will be there later this week.

I like Black's Brisket.  followed by Smitty's then Kreuz.  Like Kreuz sausage best.  Havent been to Franklins.

We went to Frinklin today.  Got there at 11:15 and ate around 12:00.  My list used to be: My brisket, Cotton's in Robstown and then Kreuz's.  Now it's Franklin, My brsiket and Kreuz's ( since Cotton's burned to the ground). I find it hard to say this but it was worth waiting in line for that BBQ.  They were selling cold drinks while you wait so bought a cold Shiner to make the time pass.  And it was hot.  Probably will wait 'til it cools down a bit to go again, but will definitely go again.  A. Franklin said they'll be serving dinner in about a month.

I think we got lucky.  We'll be going back when it cools off a little.

Heading to Round Rock this Saturday evening, staying Sunday and Monday. The boys want to hit a new (to us) bbq place rather than drive down to Lockhart. Any particular recommendations, assuming any of these places y'all talk about are open on Sunday and Labor Day?

Edit: I see that Franklin is open on Sunday, but I don't know that it's reasonable to believe that we'll arrive there as early as y'all recommend. The Older Son is rather difficult to awaken on weekends.

On Shaggy theres a suggestion that there is no line at 1 and they still have food left.

Finally! He is opening on Sept 26th at 10 AM. 1502 S. 1st. I am ecstatic at this news as it means I can probably get world class cue without having to endure the impossible wait at Franklin.
