I also have the MLB Extra Innings package,
I've found that EI has made me less of a team hater. I grew up in Philly, so I've been watching a lot of Phillies games, but I'm also watching the Dodgers, Twins and Bluejays, for whatever reason. And, off topic, but I've been meaning to ask this for awhile: why does FSH HD not come in widescreen all the time? Seems to be the only HD channel that has the 2 black bars on the side for a lot of games. Haven't seen it on any other teams' broadcasts.

I've tried to get an answer, but with no luck. I even debated with Greg Lucas through 4 or 5 tweets one night when he was sure it was HD and eventually he confirmed with the crew that it wasn't, but didnt explain why. What's interesting is that the schedule makers seemed to know before the beginning of the season which games would not have HD. My guess is that their HD equipment is scheduled for other programming, far in advance apparently.

All games from MMPUS are broadcast in HD on FSH. Road games are very hit and miss on the same channel.

I think that's pretty standard for baseball teams. The Angels have HD games in widescreen but sometimes, mainly on the non-Fox Sports channel, they have the HD with the two bars on the sides. That version of "HD" is noticeably lower quality than the widescreen HD.

Yeah, I wear my Astros-Devil Rays allegience on my sleeve. And, having followed them closely almost from the beginning, I'm am really happy and amazed at the Rays turnaround.
But let's get this straight -- any time the teams face each other in interleague play, there is no question where my sympathies lie. Any transaction between the two teams, I want the Astros to get the better of -- Vinny Castillo, Aubrey Huff, Backe (for a very brief moment), boomerang-ing Blum, Bobby Abreu. . . okay, that last one, not so much.
Absolutely. If it's Rays vs. Astros, it's always Astros.

They probably all have non-traveling Home HD equipment, and share the Fox Sports traveling equipment amongst the different regional networks. Of course, as soon as they have enough HD equipment, we'll start the whole process over for 3D. Matt, I think you're just seeing SD on the HD channel when you see the two bars.

Its definitely higher resolution than the SD signal as I've checked it but its not as clear as the Fox HD version.

Lurch is right – it's just SD. They upscale it and broadcast it in HD, but the original source is SD. So, it'll look better than SD in the same way that a regular DVD looks like the tits when played through my PS3. That was a lot of acronymin', NTTAWWT.

TV manufacturers need something in order to force you to upgrade. But who wants to wear giant glasses all the time? I mean, I already wear giant glasses, you want me to double up, then they'd better be fucking Blublockers that I can rap about!

I'd like to see it in person before completely shooting it down as a fad, but I tend to agree that the glasses kill it.

I saw John Dykstra talk about effects and Hollywood a few years ago and the one thing that really stayed with me was his declaration that with all the technical advances, the one thing that hadn't had a basic reinvention was display technology. Increased resolution wasn't the basic change he was speaking of, it was the change from a 2D platform to something immersive. I find 3D exciting because, even though what we see now are baby steps, this is a clear window to the future that will be very different in ways we can't imagine.

Look up autostereoscopic displays. That is the real future of 3D (no glasses), but not until they can get more even more pixels and the processing power draw them all.

I'll have to try those new screens, but the glasses technology makes me nauseous. Had to take my glasses off for 'Avatar' and watch it in crappy 2-D.

I thought the movie was pretty crappy, but that's not what made me nauseous.

I forget, is "pants" good or bad? I'd like to know what it is that I'm arguing when I say that you're wrong.
