Use whatever euphemism you like, but the success of the Express depends to some degree on the players provided by and the success of the parent club. If Reid Ryan has any interest in the Express, I don't want him employed by the Astros.
As for my theory falling apart, I have no idea what point you're trying to make. Again, the old man is irrelevant. This is about Jr running the Astros.
The link was from Hooks.com and described Nolan Ryan as principal owner of Ryan-Sanders baseball and the Corpus Christi Hooks which we know to be an affiliate of the Houston Astros. In his bio, he is also described as, also, CEO/President of the Texas Rangers. Your point made earlier was that it would be a conflict to run a ML club while running a MiL club under a different organization. Apparantly, it is not viewed as such by the baseball powers to be. And, yes, the success of the Express, at least in the W-L column, is wholly dependent on the talent they are sent. I don't think anyone disputes that.

I would assume that Ryan the Younger will have to give up his interest in the Express, no?. Being president of one major league club and being an owner of a minor league team affiliated with another Major League club is definitely a conflict.
I didn't think of that.

Just thinking out loud; does that mean the old man's days in Arlington truly are numbered? Would it be some sort of conflict for each to be in the same division competing against each other? I would think so. At least some tense moments during family gatherings. There was rumors here in NoTx when all the Nolan drama was swirling that he was looking for a job within the Rangers for one if not both of the boys as part of his exit strategy.

Another nice outing by Jake Buchanan. Pretty impressive run. The lines for his last three appearances:
IP.....pitches...strikes...hits.....BB...runs 3.2.....23..........18.......0.........0......0 5.0.....55..........43.......2.........0......0 4.0.....44..........28.......1.........0......0
His ERA on the year is 1.04
I saw the first one. He doesn't throw hard at all (high 80s), but he obviously throws a ton of strikes that hitters don't square up.
Sinkerball pitcher, right?

I just lost my mom in January so this has been a more somber M-D for me. Fortunately, daughter is up from Austin to be with her mom and that makes it more joyous. And, yes, happy M-D to any and all of you out there.

Figure that is what we will do, it is vacation I don't want to mess around with public transportation to save 30 bucks.
We did ride the monorail though. It only goes a mile or so.

Thanks for the inputs. Any advice on getting from the Airport to the hotel? How is the train, would it be a huge pain with luggage?
We took a cab. It was a reasonable charge. Probably 15-20 minutes. Never took public transportation there.
