I get the first shot in the drink on 17, but to stay with the same club on his 3rd was unreal. Truly like the proverbial train wreck.
Think his rationale was the he had to try to stick it close on the next shot, make bogey, and birdie 18 to have a chance.

Panel was 65. Last juror was #38 and the alternate was #40. We convicted, but sentence was on the lesser end. The whole trial, opening statements to sentencing was 3 days.
You agreed with 11 other people on something?

Through 3 rounds: Rd 1 - #27(27) DeAndre Hopkins (WR) Clemson Rd 2 - #25(57) D.J. Swearinger (S) S Carolina Rd 3 - #27(89) Brennan Williams (OT) UNC Rd 3 - #33(95) Sam Montgomery (DE) LSU
I like the Hopkins pick...the others are good too, though seem to be more value picks who need some development. Damn Ravens traded up twice to nab the guy I would have thought the Texans were going to take in that spot: Brandon Williams and Arthur Brown.
While ILB is still a massive need, I wonder if they won't turn to FA (Urlacher) to solve that one for a year. With the final 4 picks I can see them getting a ILB, RB, QB and TE...(not in order).
They want to move Reed to ILB

I have trouble with that philosophy from time to time. I think that there should be an exception for the bullpen.
You want to start the clock on people so they lose 110 games instead of 120?

General Discussion / Talk Zone / Re: BP: Are the Astros Really Losing Money?

"The Astros have lost money for the last five seasons" is what Crane is reported to have said.
So, am I supposed to assume that a 20 mil payroll is necessary to justify the 600+ mil price? Is this just really bad PR on Crane's part or the new reality for Astros fans?
This kind of jibes - the article (based on Navin's summary at least) says they are clearing $60mm, so previous payrolls above $80mm or so would have led to losses. As Mr. Happy alludes to, the real money is in the appreciation on these things (they don't make more of them). It's more like art investing. However, if you really want to make out like a bandit, being shitty with a $20mm payroll is probably the best/safest way to do it (granted, a lot depends on how much of the typical team's income in MLB is from national/shared vs. local/not-shared sources. I have only looked at NBA, where the national money is enough that a low payroll pretty much guarantees decent income).
