In a quick recap of tonight’s contest, Wandy had one of his most dominant outings of the year, despite the 3 runs he gave up in the 4th. His 13 Ks were a career high and his bender pretty much had the ‘roots on their heels all night.
The Kids Are Alright

At least for today, they are. 6-6 over their last twelve, splitting a long series with the defending World Champions, this might be a sign that the youngsters injected into the moribund Astro lineup are breathing life into the club. Sure, it’s a small sample, but the OPS of the new guys is significantly better than many of the players they replaced:

SAN FRANCISCO (SnS) – The Houston Astros played a contest on Saturday evening here against the hometown San Francisco Giants, and lost the match in extra frames, 2-1. It was the Houston team’s ninetieth loss of the 2011 campaign. Astros manager Mills tried some things, not enough of them worked. Astros at Giants – And Then There was One
So I’m guessing this season marks the low point in Astros history. It certainly does for me anyway. Of course all bets are off for next year too, but we can talk about that all winter. For now, this season is the ass-end of Astro history, and it comes six years after the high point.
