Your best is only a maximum of inefficiency.

Brewers 5, Astros 4

W: Rodriguez (4-2)
L: Rodriguez (2-1)

And so it has come to this. Staggering around, rolling steel balls between their fingers, the Astros brain trust has become Captain Queeg. Paralyzed by the need for decision and unable to prepare and carry out a plan, they lash out blindly because inaction would be mistaken for cowardice and weakness. Unfortunately, action for the sake of action rarely produces the results hoped for.

Happ-iness Runs

MILWAUKEE 6, Houston 2
July 30, 2011
(Meet Me In The) Beer Park

WP: Gallardo (12-7, 3.69)
LP: Happ (4-13, 6.01)

MILWAUKEE (SnS) – Still stunned by their sudden Pence-lessness, the staggering Houston Astros dropped the contest to the Milwaukee Brewers here tonight, losing by a tally of 6-2. Brewer hurler Yovany Gallardo picked up his 12th win in the process, while Houston lefty J.A. Happ lost his lucky 13th, and saw his ERA creep up over 6.00 (the Lima Line?) HOUSTON 5, St. Louis 3
July 28, 2011
Busch Park

WP – W. Rodriguez (7-7, 3.47)
LP – Garcia (10-5, 3.14)

ST. LOUIS (SnS) – For the second straight muggy night, the cellar-dwelling Houston Astros took down the top-of-the-division St. Louis Cardinals convincingly, here at the Cardinals home park on the banks of the Big Muddy. The peasants from Texas stormed and overran the castle tonight to the tune of a 5-3 victory, led by a resurgent Carlos Lee and aided by a gritty pitching performance from Wandy Rodriguez. HOUSTON 4, St. Louis 2
July 27, 2011
Busch 3

WP – F. Rodriguez (2-0, 2.45)
LP – Boggs (0-3, 3.10)

ST. LOUIS (SnS) – The slumping Houston Astros rode a fine starting performance by Bud Norris and some solid relief work to outlast the St. Louis Cardinals here Wednesday night, 4-2. The win broke a five–game losing streak for the Astros, and insures they’ll leave St. Louis taking at least one game in this series (the 4-game set wraps up tomorrow evening at 7:15 CDT.) MY DARK HOUR

ST. LOUIS 3, Houston 1
July 26, 2011
Busch III

WP – Westbrook (9-4, 4.86)
LP – Myers (3-11, 4.66)

ST. LOUIS (SnS) – The 2011 Houston Astros are very accomplished at finding unique and different ways to lose, you can say that for them. I suppose in a season where they are likely to lose 110+ games, that sort of skill is a requirement. The Astros lost to a mediocre St. Louis Cardinal team here tonight, 3-1. It was the second night in a row they dropped a game to the Dreadbirds, this time squandering a nice complete game start by Brett Myers in the process. Read the rest of this entry »

There you have it, no more speculation. Could this be the next Lance Berkman or the next Chris Burke type pick? Time will tell.
